Limerick Skyline
You'd swear Limerick was surrounded by mountains from this photo. I was about two miles away in my folks' house, so the zoom lens pulls the background in close. I like it, it gives a totally different perspective on Limerick. The picture is not as blurry as it appears above* - click on it to see the full size. I need to figure out why it is getting so blurred when I upload. It's at full zoom and I did take the picture though a dirty window, but still the original is much sharper than above. Any of the photogs out there know why?
* Update. I posted it on flickr, seems to have solved the blurriness problem. This only occurs on blogger when I post cropped photos using the blogger interface.

Blogger distorts images because it puts them into a standard frame, regardless of their original size. You can teak this but I can't remember how. Easiest just to tell people to click on it to see it properly.
Cool pic - I could never have guessed that was Limerick.
Um...tweak, not teak. You probably could teak it too, but that'd cost you a fortune.
The bright lights of the Limerick skyline make it seem that anything is possible.
Kav - that would make sense. This is cropped quiet a bit. I must post it on flikr and blog it from there and see if that works.
Sam - its all about perspective. Stand it the wrong place and it all looks bad, change your point of view ... I knew a fella once who was a tad odd. He'd be sitting in a room full of people and would move chairs, if anyone asked why, he'd say he had a much better view from where he had moved. Certain amount of logic in that.
My rambling point being, that Limerick is a place that gets a lot of bad publicity, but rarely is it noted that it is in a great location. Surrounded by hills, with a majestic river flowing through it, and several big beautiful lakes north of it. As the city planners turn the city more towards the water that surrounds it, ( Limerick turned it's back on the river in the 20th century), the city is looking better and better. It has a long way to go, and it will be almost impossible to overcome the ugly gray housing estates the neccesity built in the 50's/
Now listen....your mother will kill you for saying the window was dirty. What were you thinking John? Short phonecalls for you!
Great pic!
Limerick gal: Welcome and thank you!
